When a faith-based, sustainable development organisation came to us to refresh their brand, we came up with an Immaculate conception.
Viatores Christi is celebrating 60 years of sending volunteers to marginalised communities around the world, achieving lasting change in a sustainable way by transferring skills to those communities . They do great and important work.
However, their brand was dated and lacked energy. We worked with them to refresh their brand, whilst staying loyal to their heritage, and improve the quality of their messaging in a world that had shifted away from their belief system.

The old logo lacked balance and required the viewer to figure out the hierarchy between Vc and Viatores Christi. The colours lacked punch and overall it didn't offer the organisation a platform for energetic growth.

The new logo is clearer and more contemporary, yet denotes strength; it forms the basis of a colour palette that allows us to inject a fresh vitality into our ongoing communications.

We came across the story of Miss Immaculate, a woman living in Uganda whose life had been transformed by the work of VC volunteer, Rita Formolo. When Immaculate's husband died, she was left with seven children and no income. But she was able to access microfinance through a credit union that Rita worked to promote and she was able to arrange a loan that enabled Immaculate to build rooms to rent in her house that kept her going. She then went on to get another loan and start a successful brick-making factory, which now employs an engineer and four others. This has enabled her to educate her children to college level and buy a plot of land for her son.
This is precisely the kind of story that underpins VC's approach - sustainable development through transfer of skills - at a time when many global south countries question the kind of impact that short-term volunteers have.
VC faces many such challenges in an environment where volunteering (especially long-term, faith-inspired volunteering that they specialise in), but they have a new energy and many new initiatives to confront these challenges head on.
As part of the new website that Adrian developed with them, we also created a short video to communicate the kind of work they do and what they believe in.
